This time we introduced Ryukyu Kingdom Castle Town, Ryuso, indigo dyeing, and Plaster Shisa Painting Experience. It seems that Okinawa's unique culture is very interesting even overseas.
The filming staff asked a lot of questions, including the construction of the red tile old folk house, the masonry of fences unique to Okinawa, and the motif of the Bingata Dyeing drawn on Ryuso.
I was particularly interested in indigo dyeing.
indigo dyeing is said to be the oldest plant dyeing in the world, and it is very familiar to Japanese people, but in fact, even in a word "indigo dyeingme" is dyed with a variety of raw materials.
"Tade Ai" is used in the mainland of Japan, and "Ryukyu Ai" is used on Okinawa Island.
In the southern region, "Indigo" is used as a raw material, and in the northern region, "Thaisei" is used as a raw material.
Incidentally, "Tade Ai" is used in Miyako Island and "Indi Ai" is used in the Yaeyama area. Okinawa is an area where indigo dyeing is active.
In the shooting, I made a wonderful handkerchief by squeezing dyeing.♪
I'm glad if the wonderfulness of Okinawan traditional crafts will be conveyed to people from all over the world!
