In 2017, the Japan Anniversary Association officially recognized August 2 as "Habu Snake Day". It is listed as one of the anniversarys in the Okinawa limited schedule book.
About "Habu Snake memorial service"
Habu Snake is feared as a dangerous poisonous snake, but it is important to maintain the balance of Okinawa’s ecosystem. It is expected that crafts such as traditional textiles with the motif of Habu Snake patterns, its value as a tourism resource, as well as medicinal and other possibilities, and research is underway.
On August 2nd, Okinawa World, which is usually blessed by Habu Snake, holds a “Habu Snake memorial service” to give thanks to Habu Snake on “Habu Snake Day”.
