Ryukyu Kingdom Castle Town will hold the "Ashibana Ryukyu Waraba Festival" from April 27 (Sat) to May 6 (Mon), 2024!
[Ryukyu Toy Yakaji]
Yakaji is a amulet decoration attached to the pillars of the house, such as the baby's birth celebration and Yukkanuhi (May 4, old calendar), in hope of the boy's health. It is similar to the demon arrow on the mainland, and weapons such as swords and bows are inserted into a mount depicting a dragon paired with males and females.
Bingata Studio Papermaking Studio manufactures and sells yakaji-pattern products. Recommended for birthday celebrations and families with boys.
In Kingdom History Museum, a mini-plan "Ryukyu Toy Exhibition" was held.
On display are local toys such as Ryukyu Hariko, Yatsukaji, and paper chicks.
Before the war, Yukkanuhi was Okinawa's Children's Day, where a toy market was set up once a year, and children were looking forward to buying toys there.
The toys purchased from parents to children in the hope of healthy growth are all positive in lucky items, where parents can feel the warmth of their children at that time.
