Ryukyu Kingdom Castle Town will hold the "Ashibana Ryukyu Waraba Festival" from April 27 (Sat) to May 6 (Mon), 2024!
[Ryukyu Toy Yakaji]
Yakaji is a decoration of amulet attached to the pillar of the house for the celebration of the baby boy's birth and Yukkanuhi (May 4, old calendar), etc. It is similar to the mainland demon arrow, and weapons such as swords and bows are inserted into a mount depicting a dragon paired with males and females.
Bingata Studio Paper Making Studio produces and sells Yakaji-patterned products. Recommended for birth celebrations and families with boys.
Kingdom History Museum held a mini-plan "Ryukyu Toy Exhibition".
We display local toys such as Ryukyu Hariko, Yakaji, and paper chicks.
Before the war, Yukkanuhi was Okinawa's Children's Day, and an annual toy market was set up, and the children were looking forward to buying toys there.
The toys purchased from parents to children in the hope of healthy growth are all in lucky items, which has good meaning, so parents at that time can feel warm feelings for their children.
