Happy New Year!
Now? Some may have thought, but today 1/29 is old calendar 1/1, Lunar New Year!
In Okinawa, the Chinese New Year culture remains, and there are places to celebrate both the New Year and the old calendar.
Not just 1/1, but
old calendar 1/2 is the first day of “Hachioxy” work
old calendar 1/7 is a day when “Nankanusk” is made to serve Buddhist altars and the god of fire.
old calendar 1/16 is "New Year's Day", and the whole family talks at the grave with offering and relax the spirits of their ancestors. It is popular in the Miyako and Yaeyama regions.
There are many New Year's events. (There are many other things.)

Today's maximum temperature is 13°C! It's very cold.
The Uezu Residence and the former Uezato family decorate the Buddhist altar of the Lunar New Year. 。

Okinawa's unique offering includes 9 kinds of side dishes such as kamaboko, tofu, and pork, as well as charcoal kelp, which is wrapped in kelp. "Oshami" appears not only in New Year's Day, but also in various events such as Seimei Festival and Obon Festival. It is unique to Okinawa to offer a lot of fruits such as pineapple.

We offer kagami mochi and fresh flowers to tokonoma.
