Today is Lunar New Year.

Happy new year!

Are you now? Some people may think that today 1/29 is old calendar 1/1, Lunar New Year!
In Okinawa, Chinese New Year's culture remains, and there are places to celebrate both the New Year and the old calendar.

Not only 1/1,

old calendar 1/2 is the first day of "Hachiuksi" work.
old calendar 1/7 is the day when "Nankanusuku" porridge is made and served to Buddhist altars and the god of fire.
old calendar 1/16 is the New Year of the World, and the whole family chats with the offering at the grave and relaxes the spirits of their ancestors. It is popular in the Miyako and Yaeyama regions.

There are various New Year's events. (There are many other things.)

Today's maximum temperature is 13°C! It's very cold.

The Uezu Residence and the former Uezato family are decorated with Chinese New Year's altars. 。

Okinawa's unique offering includes Usanmi, a heavy box packed with nine kinds of side dishes such as kamaboko, tofu, and pork, and charcoal kelp, which is made from charcoal wrapped in kelp. "Mishami" appears not only in the New Year, but also in various events such as the Kiyomei Festival and Bon Festival. It is unique to Okinawa to offer a lot of fruits such as pineapples.

We offer kagami mochi and fresh flowers to tokonoma.
Sanshin also has a culture of decorating tokonoma, and it is said that Japan decorating swords, China decorating brushes, and Okinawa decorating Sanshin.

It will be decorated until around 2/3, so please drop in when you come.
