Lawton weaving is said to have been introduced from China in the middle of the 17th century, and is characterized by a three-dimensional weaving that is made of a part of the warp (Tateto) and floats on the stage.
Lawton-ori kimono was exclusively used for the upper class during the Ryukyu Kingdom era, and was mainly used for men.
