An excavation tour will be held at the Sakitari Cave archeological site where the world's oldest fishing hook was discovered! !

The Sakitari cave site in the valley of Gangara where the world's oldest fishing hooks and shell beads from 23,000 years ago were discovered from the strata of 23,000 years ago. Based on the geographical characteristics of Okinawa Prefecture, where many fossils of Paleolithic period, including Minatogawa, have been discovered, continuous excavation of the Sakitari-dong site in Nanjo City with the aim of further discovery, led by the Okinawa Prefectural Museum of Art.

This year, we conducted an excavation survey from mid-November.
At the same time, an excavation survey tour will be held for the general public on November 29 (Sat).

■Date and time: Held twice on November 29, 2025 (Sat)
The first time: 17:00 Second time: 17:30 (about 30 minutes each time)
※If public transportation is suspended due to bad weather, it will be canceled.
■Location: Site of Sakitari-dong, Nanjo City (Taniuchi, Gangara)
■Capacity: 60 people each time
■Method of participation: First-come, first-served basis (numbered ticket distribution, advance application not required)
・Numbered tickets will be distributed at the reception near the "Gangara Valley" parking lot.
・Numbered tickets will be distributed from 16:30.
・We will give you one numbered ticket per person.
・Please note that the distribution of numbered tickets will end as soon as the capacity is reached.

At the tour, specialized researchers will explain the latest survey results in an easy-to-understand manner in front of the excavation site and excavated relics.
